Mission
Colorado People’s Action (CPA) is a member-led, racial justice organization dedicated to winning long-lasting progressive public policies in Colorado. CPA builds power by mobilizing voters, electing our own people to office, holding elected officials accountable, and working to put people before profit.
History & Overview
Colorado People’s Action was founded in the fall of 2015 to change the face of politics in our state. Our members lead and dictate our work. We are a grassroots community organization that is working to build governing power by organizing those most directly impacted by the decisions made by our elected officials. We work to create change through a racial justice lens, because we understand that systematic oppression is the root cause of the issues we focus on, and in order to truly create change, we must change the systems that perpetuate oppression. We come from community and we are community. Colorado People’s Action is proud to be a racial justice member-led organization – because when we come together as directly impacted individuals to build governing power, we can win.
Movement Politics
We reject status quo transactional politics that treat our votes and concerns as irrelevant. We go door-to-door to engage voters across the state, to talk with them about the issues that are most important to them, and ensure they vote and get involved. We work to elect people who come from our community and represent our values. We work to hold elected officials accountable, to support them and to ensure our community co-governs with them, a model in which elected officials work with those most directly impacted to develop policies for change.
